Moroccan security forces have intercepted 59 would-be immigrants to Europe as their boat was headed for the Spanish coast, officials said Monday.
The boat, a Zodiac dinghy, was intercepted on Sunday 80 kilometres (50 miles) east of El Hoceima in northern Morocco, the Moroccan navy said in a statement.
Among the clandestine travellers were eight women and a baby.
The migrants have been turned over to police and will be presented before the public prosecutor, the statement said.
