Ondanks de verhitte discussie van de afgelopen paar dagen moet ik eerlijk toegeven dat Chatt ook wel een beetje gelijk heeft. Gelijk in die zin dat je bij politiek-gevoelige zaken zoals de Sahara soms beter je mond kan houden zeker als je kennis over het onderwerp ontoereikend is, want je weet maar nooit wat de gevolgen kunnen zijn voor jezelf en voor anderen. En dan kun je wel eens van een koude kermis thuiskomen. Zeker als je de Marokkaanse regering tegenover je hebt en Chatt kan het weten, want he´s been there, done that. En daar kan ik ook niet omheen. Het enige wat ik hiertegen in te brengen heb is de redenatie dat als ik mij niet bezig ging houden met zaken zoals Aminatou Haidar dan had niemand op amazigh.nl dat gedaan....
Waarin Chatt absoluut niet gelijk heeft is het feit dat hij mij beschuldigd dat ik overal verbanden in zie. Vandaar dat ik hem en anderen ongelijk wil bewijzen door te laten zien dat veel conspiracytheorieen - in tegenstelling tot men zou denken - meestal wel een kern van waarheid bevatten. Dus bij deze wil ik iedereen uitnodigen om in deze discussie verschillende historische samenzweringen aan te kaarten waarvan jezelf denkt dat je het voldoende kan beargumenteren met verifieerbare bronnen. Dit is erg belangrijk, met name in deze discussie, want als je mensen wilt overtuigen van een conspiracytheorie kun je moeilijk met lege handen aankomen...
Alaoui-Glaoui
Na het lezen van deze discussie (http://www.amazigh.nl/awar/index.php?topic=7182.0) en deze site (http://rami.tv/fr/alaouites/hassan2/fils-de-glaoui.htm) was mijn interesse gewekt en ben ik mij de volgende 2 vragen gaan stellen:
I Zou het mogelijk kunnen zijn dat H2 de zoon is van Thami Glaoui?
II Zou het mogelijk kunnen zijn dat de Glaoui-bloedlijn de Alaoui-bloedlijn probeert te overheersen?

Om vraag I te kunnen beantwoorden heb ik de stamboom van de Alaoui en Glaoui in kaart gebracht (Zwart = Alaoui-bloedlijn / Rood = Glaoui-bloedlijn) en zoals jullie kunnen zien in het tabel is H2 de zoon van M5 en Lalla Abla = nichtje van M5 via zijn oom aan vaderszijde en dus ook van de Alaoui bloedlijn. Hieruit kunnen we concluderen dat het zeer onwaarschijnlijk is dat H2 daadwerkelijk de zoon is van Thami el Glaoui. Ook al kan de gelijkenis in het uiterlijk van beiden soms zo tot de verbeelding spreken.

De beantwoording van vraag II is veel interessanter, aangezien we uit het tabel al kunnen halen dat Marokko in ieder geval tussen 1953 en 1955 een Glaoui-Alaoui hybrid sultan op de troon had - Sultan Mohammed ben Arafa. Weliswaar zonder enige streetcredibilty aangezien niemand in Marokko destijds deze Franse marionet erkende. En dan bedoel ik ook echt niemand - van Saharaanse nomade tot aan de Fassi-bourgeoisie aan toe - begon men te protesteren tegen de nep-sultan. Dit is ook gelijk een directe aanleiding geweest voor de volksopstand in de aanloop naar de onafhankelijkheid in 1956. De enige die het gezag van Sultan Mohammed ben Arafa erkende was de Franse bezetter op aandringen van Thami el Glaoui en nu weten we ook waarom.
Wat verder interessant is om te weten is dat de Freemason-Sultan Abdelhafid en de oudere broer van Thami - Madani el Glaoui - een onderonsje hebben afgesproken door elkaars dochters uit te wisselen. Zo trouwde Sultan Abdelhafid in 1907 met Lalla Rabia = 6e dochter van Madani el Glaoui en mocht Madani op zijn beurt trouwen met een nog onbekende dochter van Sultan Abdelhafid. Uit het huwelijk tussen de Sultan en de Glaoui-dochter is er een meisje voortgekomen genaamd Lalla Amina. Deze is op haar beurt weer getrouwd met de oudere broer van M5 en toenmalige Kalief van Tiznit - Moulay Hassan ben Yoessef. En ook uit dit huwelijk is een dochter voortgekomen genaamd Lalla Zoubeyda. Deze Glaoui-Alaoui hybrid is een directe nicht van H2 en ook van dezelfde leeftijdsgeneratie.
Het zou best wel eens mogelijk kunnen zijn dat H2 en Lalla Zoubeyda al op zeer jonge leeftijd verwisseld kunnen zijn met elkaar, hoewel het verschil in geslacht wel een belletje af zou moeten laten gaan in het paleis. Maar goed, weten wij veel wat daar achter die gesloten paleisdeuren allemaal gebeurt. Wat eventueel ook mogelijk zou kunnen zijn is dat M5 niet met Lalla Abla is getrouwd, maar met Lalla Amina de Glaoui-dochter van de oude sultan Abdelhafid. Of in ieder geval met haar het huwelijk geconsummeerd. Over echte broederliefde gesproken. En dit zou eens best wel mogelijk kunnen zijn aangezien zowel M5 als zijn oudere broer de Kalief van Tiznit â€" Moulay Hassan op dezelfde dag zijn getrouwd â€" 27 oktober 1926 â€" en ook in dezelfde plaats, namelijk Marrakesh. Hometown van Thami el Glaoui dus waarschijnlijk ook in het zelfde paleis.
En om het helemaal interssant te maken heb ik ook nog eens gekeken naar de bezittingen van de Glaoui´s en die van Alaoui´s. En ook daar blijkt weer sprake te zijn van belangenverstrengeling. Voor degenen die nog niet weten hoe de Alaouieten aan hun geld en bezittingen komen:

Ik heb het alleen over de beurs van Casablanca en niet over de hele economie. Niet alle bedrijven zitten ook op de beurs. Als je kijkt naar ONA de 'gouden delen' zitten niet op de beurs.
Het zijn maar een paar Marokkaanse bedrijven of neven bedrijven die op de beurs staan..
Meest van die bedrijven zitten pas sinds kort op de beurs. Het gaat voornamelijk om Telecom en banken.

Au tout début, l’Omnium Nord Africain, était dirigé par Pierre Moussa, au nom de la banque Paribas, avant le rachat des parts françaises et la marocanisation en 1980. Le prince Moulay Ali en devint, de 1980 à 1986, le Pdg, mais le véritable gestionnaire était David Amar. Auquel a succédé Mohamed Benhima secondé par le jeune Daniel Amar. Né en 1921 à Settat, ce fils d’un pauvre négociant agricole a commencé sa carrière comme simple employé des « comptoirs du Sebou ». En quelques années, le simple doker s’est retrouvé patron d’un véritable empire spécialisé dans l’industrie agroalimentaire. C’est là où le Secrétaire général du conseil des communautés israélites du Maroc et président du rassemblement mondial du judaïsme marocain se fait remarquer par Hassan II. Homme d’affaires prospère, il se retrouve à la tête de deux boîtes qui marchent plutôt bien, Lesieur Maroc et La Centrale Laitière, il contrôle par la même occasion un tiers de l’Omnium nord-africain, futur ONA, et gère les deux tiers restants pour le compte de la famille royale, en qualité d’administrateur délégué. Avec l’arrivée de Fouad Filali, pour cause d’incompatibilité d’humeur, il quitte à contrecoeur l’ONA en 1987. Il se retire en Suisse. Accompagné de son fils qui a lui aussi quitté l’ONA juste après son père, le milliardaire fait une très mauvaise affaire avec le rachat de la chaîne de superettes Félix Potin qui fera faillite juste après. Aigri, il mènera une vie de retraité particulièrement difficile, avant de s’éteindre il y a deux ans de cela, dans l’anonymat le plus complet.

On dit que le journalisme mène à tout à condition d’en sortir. Robert Assaraf a inversé la maxime, il est passé des affaires au journalisme. Le président de Radio Shalom est également vice-président de Marianne, le premier des hebdomadaires de l’hexagone. Depuis son départ de l’ONA, l’homme que l’on dit particulièrement aigri, est passé par des problèmes de santé sérieux, deux opérations du cerveau pour une tumeur heureusement bénigne. Assaraf n’hésite ainsi jamais à coiffer la casquette du journaliste, pour donner sa vision du parcours du judaïsme marocain et de « la rencontre d’une communauté multiséculaire avec la modernité », jusqu’au départ des juifs du royaume. Aujourd’hui, le chantre de la question juive bat le pavé pour expliquer de long en large et par tous les moyens, la réalité de l’histoire millénaire des Juifs du Maroc. Le mercredi 26 novembre 2008, il avait repris son bâton de pèlerin pour présenter à l’Alliance israélite universelle son dernier livre «Juifs du Maroc à travers le monde : émigration et identité retrouvée». La soirée a été clôturée par des briouates et un buffet marocain bien garni offert par le Centre international de recherche sur les Juifs du Maroc. Lequel avait été créé, en mai 1994, à Paris à l’initiative de Assaraf. Il avait été coopté par David Amar, véritable patron de la communauté juive post-1956, pour occuper le poste de directeur financier puis administrateur de l’ONA, dans les années 80, n’a jamais caché ses ambitions de faire de ce centre un pôle de réflexion international à vocation universitaire et scientifique, dont l’objectif avoué est de développer par n’importe quels moyens, la connaissance et l’étude de l’histoire des Juifs du Maroc. Ce n’est pas pour rien que le premier congrès du CRJM organisé à Marrakech, en septembre 1995 avait pour but précisément de souligner l’aspect global -interdisciplinaire et «inter confessionnel» à la fois- de la vocation de ce centre. Sous le thème «Relations judéo musulmanes au Maroc», les organisateurs avaient choisi la musique andalouse, héritage commun aux Juifs et aux Musulmans du Maroc. En Israël, une «chaire d’histoire du Maroc et des Juifs du Maroc» a été créée par le CRJM, à l’Université hébraïque de Jérusalem. Le CRJM a conclu également un accord avec l’Académie israélienne de la langue hébraïque, en vue de la promotion des recherches sur l’étude des manuscrits judéo marocains. Enfin, au Maroc, le centre créé par Assaraf a développé des relations étroites avec les Facultés de Rabat, Kénitra, Fès et Oujda.
En tout cas, le départ d’Assaraf du Maroc ne l’empêche pas de suivre de très près ce qui se passe dans le royaume. Et lorsqu’on connaît les inimitiés qu’il voue à Serge Berdugo, dont il conteste la position de leader à la tête de la communauté israélite de Casablanca, de très loin la plus importante du Maroc, menacé d’ailleurs par la candidature d’un richissime industriel, Raphaël Devico, on comprend mieux l’aigreur du personnage qui n’hésite jamais à entretenir le feu de la polémique par des tribunes libres publiées régulièrement dans la presse marocaine. Ce qui fait dire à un membre de la communauté juive locale que «Bob ( le surnom donné à Assaraf) a le corps en France mais le cÅ"ur solidement attaché au Maroc».

The royal palace has never concealed the fact that it always seeks to strike a careful balance between political and business circles when it comes to forming governments. King Mohamed VI prepared all the ingredients of the new magic potion to set up his new administration on Jan. 3. Steering clear of party politics as always, the monarch co-opted new technocrats (see opposite) and promoted two high fliers in the business world.
The appointment of Mohamed Naciri as justice minister will no doubt be applauded by customers of Gide Loyrette Nouel in the kingdom. The former president of the Casablanca bar - and the king's lawyer on occasion - Naciri is a former boss of the corporate law concern Nacriri & Associes, who turned over management of the concern to his son Hicham. The latter has been a partner of the Gide Loyrette Nouel firm since 2003. In replacing Abdelouaheb Radi, Mohamed Naciri inherits the job of reforming the justice system that has been marking time of late.
Another minister with a robust business profile is Yassir Zenagui, virtually unknown to the public, who will take over the key post as tourism minister in the place of Mohamed Boussaid. Said to be a member of the Rassemblement National des Independants, Zanagui made his name in London's financial world, at both Societe Generale and Deutsche Bank, where he was head of derivatives arbitrage and trading. According to his official biography, Zenabui is "an engineer in artificial intelligence." But also - and this was less underlined - the new minister for tourism and the arts and crafts heads the Sienna Group, a mysterious investment fund in the tourism branch. According to our sources the Sienna group is pushing for the construction of a Ritz Carlton hotel in Tamouda bay near Tetouan. A study of the project is on the drawing boards at the London architecture concern WATG. Also in London, Zenagui joined forces with Majid El Ghzal in 2006, to open Dune, a "Mediterranean fusion cuisine" restaurant for London's top crust in highly posh Haymarket street. His predecessor left him to handle two sensitive projects; one concerning the Anfa Palace on the Casablanca cliff road, which has fallen behind schedule, and Saidia, which the press is now describing as a "ghost resort."

Circassian beauties
Circassian beauties is a term used to refer to an idealized image of the women of the Circassian people of the Northern Caucasus. A fairly extensive literary history suggests that Circassian women were thought to be unusually beautiful, spirited and elegant, and as such were desirable as concubines. This reputation dates back to the Ottoman Empire when Circassian women living in the Sultan's Imperial Harem started to build their reputation as extremely beautiful and genteel, and then became a common trope in Western Orientalism.
As a result of this reputation, in Europe and America Circassians were regularly characterised as the ideal of feminine beauty in poetry, novels and art. Cosmetic products were advertised, from the 18th century on, using the word "Circassian" in the title, or claiming that the product was based on substances used by the women of Circassia.
In the 1860s the showman P. T. Barnum exhibited women whom he claimed were Circassian beauties. They wore a distinctive Afro-like hair style, which had no precedent in earlier portrayals of Circassians, but which was soon copied by other female performers, who became known as "moss haired girls". These were typically presented as victims of sexual enslavement among the Turks, who had escaped from the harem to achieve freedom in America.
Racial theories
By the early nineteenth century, Circassians were associated with theories of racial hierarchy, which elevated the Caucasus region as the source of the purest examples of the white race, which was named the Caucasian race after the area by Johann Friedrich Blumenbach. Blumenbach theorised that the Circassians were the closest to God's original model of humanity, and thus "the purest and most beautiful whites were the Circassians".[10] This fuelled the idea of female Circassian beauty.[11]
Circassians are depicted in images of harems at this time through these ideologies of racial hierarchy. John Frederick Lewis' The Harem portrays Circassians as the dominant mistresses of the harem, who look down on other women, as implied in the review of the painting in the Art Journal, which described it as follows,
It represents the interior of a harem at Cairo, wherein is seated in luxurious ease a young Turk, attired in the excess of Moslem fashion. Near him, and reclining upon cushions, are two Circassian women, also dressed in the extremity of Oriental taste... On the right is seen a tall Nubian eunuch, who removes from the shoulders of an Egyptian slave the shawl by which she had been covered, in order to show her to the master of the harem; this figure with her high shoulders and the characteristics of her features, is a most successful national impersonation. The Circassian women look languidly to the Egyptian with an expression of supreme contempt, which is responded to by a sneer on the face of the Nubian eunuch.[12]
Orientalizing paintings of nudes were also sometimes exhibited as "Circassians".
The Circassians became major news during the Caucasian War, in which Russia conquered the North Caucasus, displacing large numbers of Circassians southwards. In 1856 The New York Times published a report entitled "Horrible Traffic in Circassian Women â€" Infanticide in Turkey", asserting that a consequence of the Russian conquest of the Caucasus was an excess of beautiful Circassian women on the Constantinople slave market, and that this was causing prices of slaves in general to plummet.[13] The story drew on ideas of racial hierarchy, stating that,
the temptation to possess a Circassian girl at such low prices is so great in the minds of the Turks that many who cannot afford to keep several slaves have been sending their blacks to market, in order to make room for a newly-purchased white girl.
The article also claimed that children born to the "inferior" black concubines were being killed. This story drew widespread attention to the area, as did later conflicts.
At the same time writers and illustrators were also creating images depicting the authentic costumes and people of the Caucasus. Francis Davis Millet depicted Circassian women during his 1877 coverage of the Russo-Turkish war, specifying local costume and hairstyle.

Ps. Historische inconsistentie: de Glaoui´s zouden al in 1893 de 77 mm Krupp kanon hebben gekregen, echter het Duitse wapenbedrijf is voor zover ik weet pas in 1896 gestart met de productie van de 77 mm kaliber kanonnen.

Aussi, en offrant au Sultan de l’installer en France, ils espéraient construire je ne sais quelle structure qui puisse sauvegarder le maximum de leurs intérêts. Il faut bien le dire: Le retour du Sultan, dès novembre 1955, a déjoué bien des calculs et coupé court à bien des ambitions, et pas seulement françaises.

MHI : Comment expliquez-vous le comportement de votre père ?- Abdessadeq El Glaoui: Sans vouloir justifier le comportement de mon père, je sais qu’il avait réalisé son erreur et constaté que, aussi bien à l’intérieur du Maroc qu’à l’étranger, cette action funeste soulevait l’indignation de tous. De toutes les façons, ce que j’ai voulu souligner, c’est que le Glaoui, de 1951 à 1955, a vécu, malgré toutes les apparences, dans une souffrance morale intense et qu’il n’a trouvé de répit qu’en revenant à son allégeance à Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef, dont il a, par son ralliement surprenant pour beaucoup, précipité la restauration. Le pacha El Glaoui a demandé le retour de Mohammed V, et a obtenu son pardon pour son égarement. Chose que le Roi n’a pas hésité à lui accorder. Je pense qu’il est de mon devoir, moi qui ai vécu aux côtés d’un personnage important de l’histoire, de le faire découvrir à ceux qui ne connaissent pas tout de lui.

MHI : Racontez-nous comment s’est déroulé ce ralliement ?- Abdessadeq El Glaoui: Ce revirement spectaculaire du Glaoui a été obtenu dans des circonstances, il faut le dire, assez dramatiques: invité à se présenter le 25 octobre 1955 devant le Conseil des Gardiens du Trône, mon père allait, sans le savoir, en reconnaissant ce conseil, servir à mettre en place une structure qui n’est pas susceptible à mon avis de résoudre le véritable problème. En effet, mon livre, Le Ralliement, décrit la manière dont a été réalisé ce véritable coup de théâtre, avec quelques amis du parti de l’Istiqlal: Haj Ahmed Bennani, Abbas El Kabbaj, et Ahmed Guessous. Ainsi, nous avons déjoué, ensemble, ce que je considérais à l’époque comme une désastreuse machination. Nous avons convaincu Haj Thami El Glaoui qu’il n’y avait pas une meilleure solution que le retour du Sultan Mohammed V. Nous l’avions convaincu, et c’était similaire à une bombe pour beaucoup de personnes qui s’attendaient à ce que cette brouille dure. A l’époque, j’avais trente ans, et je me lançais dans une opération délicate. Le délai dont nous disposions était très court: entre le 22 octobre, date de l’invitation de Haj Fathmi Ben Slimane, et le 25 octobre, date fixée par lui pour la visite du Glaoui au Conseil des Gardiens du Trône. Il nous a fallu donc nous activer pour convaincre le pacha de déclarer publiquement son ralliement au retour immédiat de Mohammed V, juste après cette visite.

MHI : Comment la famille El Glaoui a-t-elle toujours été proche de la famille royale ?- Abdessadeq El Glaoui: Le Pacha El Glaoui était très proche de Mohammed V. Et, depuis toujours, notre famille a eu des liens très forts avec la famille alaouite. Nous sommes demeurés attachés à eux par des liens basés sur l’allégeance et le respect que notre famille leur a toujours témoignés, dans toutes les circonstances. Nos relations sont vraiment très anciennes. Mon père m‘envoyait souvent le représenter à des fêtes organisées au Palais, lorsqu’il était malade ou avait un empêchement. C’est ainsi que j’ai tissé, à mon tour, des liens, avec feu Hassan II, qui avait presque mon âge. J’ai également vécu un moment fort lorsque j’ai été reçu par Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef, le 8 novembre 1955, à Saint-Germain en Laye.

MHI : Quelle est l’importance des documents qui figurent dans ce livre ?- Abdessadeq El Glaoui: Les documents qui illustrent ce livre constituent une preuve des relations anciennes de notre famille avec la dynastie alaouite. D’autres sont pour démontrer les relations entretenues par mon père avec des personnalités françaises, marocaines ou américaines, prouvant par là son civisme et son amour pour son pays quoi qu’on ait pu dire de lui.

MHI : L’histoire témoigne de la trahison de votre père, qui a indigné tous les Marocains.- Abdessadeq El Glaoui: A mon avis, cela doit être dépassé. Je trouve que ça ne sert à rien de parler de quelqu’un en mal après sa mort. Je ne suis pas en train de nier ce qu’a fait mon père, ou de justifier son comportement. Cependant, il ne faut pas perdre de vue tout ce qu’il a fait de bien autour de lui. C’était une dérive pour lui, qu’il a regrettée, et je pense que le meilleur exemple à suivre est celui de Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef, qui n’a pas hésité à pardonner mon père, quand ce dernier le lui a demandé. Feu Hassan II, après lui, a continué à traiter notre famille avec la même façon, et n’a plus évoqué cet acte du passé.

MHI :Comment avez-vous procédé pour expliquer le déroulement des évènements dans votre livre ?- Abdessadeq El Glaoui: En ce qui concerne le déroulement des événements de 1950 à 1955, je me suis permis de brosser un tableau qui situe le personnage du Glaoui, mon père, dans l’environnement qui a été le cadre de sa vie. Ainsi, son itinéraire, depuis le début du siècle dernier jusqu’en 1956, serait peut-être mieux compris. La phase importante de mon discours couvrira bien entendu la crise qui a bouleversé le Maroc avec la déportation du Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef. Autant Juin et Guillaume représentaient un durcissement après le fameux discours de Tanger, dans l’intention de perpétuer la domination de la France sur le Maroc, autant la France s’inclinait progressivement devant la revendication nationale du retour du Souverain: Il était évident pour tous que Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef n’avait pas cessé de régner sur les cÅ"urs de ses sujets.

MHI : Quels sont les souvenirs forts que vous gardez de votre père ?- Abdessadeq El Glaoui: Le pacha nous a élevés, mes frères et moi, dans une éthique religieuse et morale. Cependant, il y avait une grande distance entre nous: C’était un homme fort, au caractère impressionnant, qu’il était difficile de contredire. Ce n’est qu’en 1954 que je me suis rapproché de lui, jusqu’à lui servir de secrétaire et de l’accompagner dans quelques-uns de ses voyages, notamment à Londres en 1954, à l’occasion de sa rencontre avec Churchill. J’ai pu ainsi exercer sur lui un peu d’influence. J’ai pu le rapprocher des média et lui faire suivre, en lui traduisant les journaux, l’évolution de la situation au Maroc.

Misschien was het de nummerieke overwicht die maakt dat we vandaag de dag een Alaoui en geen Klaoui als caudillo hebben.
Persoonlijk denk ik dat dat een van de grootste problemen in Marokko is:het produceren van kinderen. Onze belangrijkste export-producten zijn namelijk fosfaat,tomaten en mensen...
Ik ben bevriend met een landbouwertje zonder land uit Temsaman met 12 kinderen bij één vrouw,God verhoede dat hij de mogelijkheid had gehad om vier vrouwen te huwen. Ik heb hem wel eens gevraagd waarom hij zoveel kinderen heeft verwekt? Hij zei: wij wonen hoog in de bergen en 's nachts is het verdomd koud!
Wat die Glaoui betreft:als je in Marokko zijn naam in de mond neemt denkt iedereen meteen aan een heerser die tevens pooier was. Ik heb geen bronnen,maar het schijnt dat hij de bordelen in zijn gebied een speciale Klaoui-belasting liet betalen.

Haavara Agreement
The Haavara Agreement was signed on 25 August 1933 after three months of talks by the Zionist Federation of Germany, the Anglo-Palestine Bank (under the orders of the Jewish Agency, an official executive agency in then Palestine) and the economic authorities of the Nazi regime of Germany. Almost all natural resources were being expropriated out of the country being paid for exclusively with the severely debauched Reichsbank Marks but foreign debtors would invariably demanded payment for the few things Germany was actually allowed to buy in "Goldrecknung Marks" at full, fair actual internationally honored exchange rates. The Haavara agreement was simply a workaround which allowed Germany to get fair value for at least some if it's production and ameliorate some of the most onerous consequences of the Versailles Reparations.

CiteerThe Daily Express (London) published an article on March 24, 1933 announcing that the Jews had already launched their boycott against Germany and described a forthcoming "holy war". The Express urged Jews everywhere to boycott German goods and demonstrate against German economic interests.
The Express said that Germany was "now confronted with an international boycott of its trade, its finances, and its industry....In London, New York, Paris and Warsaw, Jewish businessmen are united to go on an economic crusade."
The article went on, "worldwide preparations are being made to organize protest demonstrations."
On March 27, 1933 the planned protest at Madison Square Garden was attended by 40,000 protestors (New York Daily News headlines: "40,000 Roar Protest Here Against Hitler").
Similar rallies and protest marches were also held in other cities. The intensity of the Jewish campaign against Germany was such that the Hitler government vowed that if the campaign did not stop there would be a one-day boycott in Germany of Jewish-owned stores.
Hitler's March 28, 1933 speech ordering a boycott against Jewish stores and goods was in direct response to the declaration of war on Germany by the worldwide Jewish leadership.
That same spring of 1933 there began a period of private cooperation between the German government and the Zionist movement in Germany and worldwide to increase the flow of German-Jewish immigrants and capital to Palestine.
Growing anti-Semitism in Germany and by the German government in response to the boycott played into the hands of the Zionist leaders. Prior to the escalation of anti-Semitism as a result of the boycott the majority of German Jews had little sympathy for the Zionist cause of promoting the immigration of world Jewry to Palestine. Making the situation in Germany as uncomfortable for the Jews as possible, in cooperation with German National Socialism, was part of the Zionist plan to achieve their goal of populating Palestine with a Jewish majority.
"For all intents and purposes, the National Socialist government was the best thing to happen to Zionism in its history, for it "proved" to many Jews that Europeans were irredeemably anti-Jewish and that Palestine was the only answer: Zionism came to represent the overwhelming mjaority of Jews solely by trickery and cooperation with Adolf Hitler." Bold Jewry is looking for brave statesmen and open-minded journalists who could
help defend us from our tragic enemies, camouflaged as our spokesmen, our
defenders and friends: the Zionist so-called “state of Israel†and their sympathizers
abroad.
Theodor Herzl (1860-1904), the founder of modern Zionism, recognized that anti-
Semitism would further his cause, the creation of a separate state for Jews. To solve
the Jewish Question, he maintained “we must, above all, make it an international
political issue.â€1 Herzl wrote that Zionism offered the world a welcome “final solution
of the Jewish question.â€2 In his “Diariesâ€, page 19, Herzl stated “Anti-Semites will
become our surest friends, anti-Semitic countries our allies.â€
Zionism was supported by the German SS and Gestapo.3 4 5 6 Hitler himself
personally supported Zionism.7 8 During the 1930’s, in cooperation with the German
authorities, Zionist groups organized a network of some 40 camps throughout
Germany where prospective settlers were trained for their new lives in Palestine. As
late as 1942 Zionists operated at least one of these officially authorized “Kibbutzâ€
training camps9 over which flew the blue and white banner which would one day be
adopted as the national flag of “Israelâ€.10
The Transfer Agreement (which promoted the emigration of German Jews to
Palestine) implemented in 1933 and abandoned at the beginning of WWII is an
important example of the cooperation between Hitler’s Germany and international
Zionism. 11 Through this agreement, Hitler’s Third Reich did more than any other
government during the 1930’s to support Jewish development in Palestine and
further the Zionist goals. Hitler and the Zionists had a common goal: to create a
world Jewish Ghetto as a solution to the Jewish Question.
The Zionist so-called “World Jewish Congress†declared war on the country of
Germany,12 13 knowing that it would affect their Jewish brothers residing in that
country who would be left without protection. When others tried to help them
escape to other countries, the Zionist movement took actions which caused those
countries to lock their doors to Jewish immigration (read more in the books, “Perfidyâ€
and “Min Hametzerâ€). As a result of the Zionist influence five ships of Jewish
refugees from Germany arriving in the United States were turned back to the gas
chambers.
The fundamental aim of the Zionist movement has been not to save Jewish lives but
to create a “Jewish state†in Palestine.
On December 7, 1938, Ben Gurion, the first head of the Zionist ‘state of Israel’
declared “If I knew it was possible to save all the children in Germany by taking
them to England, and only half of the children by taking them to Eretz Israel, I would
choose the second solution. For we must take into account not only the lives of
these children but also the history of the people of Israel.â€14
On August 31, 1949, Ben Gurion stated: “Although we have realized our dream of
creating a Jewish State, we are only at the beginning. There are still only 900,000
Jews in Israel, whereas the majority of the Jewish people still remains abroad. Our
future task is to bring all the Jews to Israel.â€
Of the two and a half million Jews seeking refuge from the Nazis between 1935 and
1943, less than 9% went to settle in Palestine. The vast majority, 75%, went to the
Soviet Union. In the mid-70’s, more people emigrated out of ‘Israel’ than came in.
The only surges of immigration to the Zionist state have occurred during anti-Semitic
threats and persecution in foreign countries.15
It follows that for the Zionist state to achieve its goal of a Jewish world ghetto anti-
Semitism must be promoted and encouraged, and as we have seen, by acts of
violence if necessary.
“To attain its practical objectives, Zionism hopes it will be able to collaborate with a
government that is fundamentally hostile to the Jewsâ€.16
The use of anti-Semitism as a tool to coerce immigration to the Zionist state
continues to the present day:
Prime Minister Sharon has stated that anti-Semitism is on the rise and that the only
hope for the safety of Jews is to move to Israel under the protection of the Zionist state.
“The best solution to anti-Semitism is immigration to Israel. It is the only
place on Earth where Jews can live as Jews," he said.17
Those who continue to call the so-called “state of Israel†the “Jewish State†are not
only promoting Zionism which is contrary to the beliefs of true Judaism, but also
endorsing the promotion of worldwide anti-Semitism. In doing so they are
endangering the lives of traditional Jews and denying their civil liberties and human
rights.
When the British foreign secretary, Arthur Balfour (sponsor of the 1905 Aliens Act to
restrict Jewish immigration to the UK), wanted the British government to commit
itself to a Jewish homeland in Palestine, his declaration was delayed - not by anti-
Semites but by leading figures in the British Jewish community. They included a
Jewish member of the cabinet who called Balfour's pro-Zionism "anti-Semitic in
result". In contrast, a great statesman like Secretary of State Colin Powell, a
supporter of traditional Judaism, has the courage to separate Judaism from Zionism
and to acknowledge that speaking out against the actions of the Zionist state is not
“anti-Semitismâ€.
We call upon our leaders in Washington to disassociate the actions of the Zionist
state from traditional Judaism by no longer referring to “Israel†as the “Jewish Stateâ€
but as “the Zionist State†and to speak out against the Zionist actions which promote
anti-Semitism.

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379
United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379, adopted on November 10, 1975 by a vote of 72 to 35 (with 32 abstentions), "determine[d] that Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination". The resolution is often referenced in debates of Zionism and racism. The resolution was revoked by Resolution 46/86 on December 16, 1991. In the history of the UN, this is the only resolution that has ever been revoked.
Background
The UN recommended a portion of the former British Mandate for Palestine to be allotted to the Jewish population at the time in the 1947 UN Partition Plan. During the 1947-1948 Civil War in Palestine, the UN Security Council passed Resolutions 42 (5 March 1948), 43 (1 Apr), 44 (1 Apr) and 46 (17 Apr), which recommended both sides of the conflict to "[r]efrain, pending the future government of Palestine ... from any political activity which might prejudice the rights, claims, or position of either community".
Throughout the 1950s and into the 1960s, the Security Council passed resolutions that condemned Israel. After the Six-Day War, the Security Council passed several resolutions condemning Israel for treating Jerusalem as its capital. Also, virtually every major Israeli military action after 1967 was condemned in various resolutions after 1967.
Paul Johnson and other historians argue that November 10, 1975 United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379 that equated Zionism with racism was initiated by the USSR, even though opponents of the USSR on the Council did not oppose the resolution. It was rescinded by the Resolution 4686 in December 1991, which coincided with the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The General Assembly,
Recalling its resolution 1904 (XVIII) of 20 November 1963, proclaiming the United Nations Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, and in particular its affirmation that "any doctrine of racial differentiation or superiority is scientifically false, morally condemnable, socially unjust and dangerous" and its expression of alarm at "the manifestations of racial discrimination still in evidence in some areas in the world, some of which are imposed by certain Governments by means of legislative, administrative or other measures",
Recalling also that, in its resolution 3151 G (XXVIII) of 14 December 1973, the General Assembly condemned, inter alia, the unholy alliance between South African racism and zionism,

Taking note also of resolution 77 (XII) adopted by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African Unity at its twelfth ordinary session, held at Kampala from 28 July to 1 August 1975, which considered "that the racist regime in occupied Palestine and the racist regime in Zimbabwe and South Africa have a common imperialist origin, forming a whole and having the same racist structure and being organically linked in their policy aimed at repression of the dignity and integrity of the human being",
Taking note also of the Political Declaration and Strategy to Strengthen International Peace and Security and to Intensify Solidarity and Mutual Assistance among Non-Aligned Countries, adopted at the Conference of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Non-Aligned Countries held at Lima from 25 to 30 August 1975, which most severely condemned zionism as a threat to world peace and security and called upon all countries to oppose this racist and imperialist ideology,
Determines that Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination.
The Israeli response
In his address to the United Nations General Assembly the same day, 10. November 1975, Israeli Ambassador Chaim Herzog stated:
"I can point with pride to the Arab ministers who have served in my government; to the Arab deputy speaker of my Parliament; to Arab officers and men serving of their own volition in our border and police defense forces, frequently commanding Jewish troops; to the hundreds of thousands of Arabs from all over the Middle East crowding the cities of Israel every year; to the thousands of Arabs from all over the Middle East coming for medical treatment to Israel; to the peaceful coexistence which has developed; to the fact that Arabic is an official language in Israel on a par with Hebrew; to the fact that it is as natural for an Arab to serve in public office in Israel as it is incongruous to think of a Jew serving in any public office in an Arab country, indeed being admitted to many of them. Is that racism? It is not! That... is Zionism."
In his response he also said that the resolution was:
"another manifestation of the bitter anti-Semitic, anti-Jewish hatred which animates Arab society. Who would have believed that in this year, 1975, the malicious falsehoods of the 'Elders of Zion' would be distributed officially by Arab governments? Who would have believed that we would today contemplate an Arab society which teaches the vilest anti-Jewish hate in the kindergartens?... We are being attacked by a society which is motivated by the most extreme form of racism known in the world today... expressed so succinctly in the words of the leader of the PLO, Yassir Arafat, in his opening address at a symposium in Tripoli, Libya: "There will be no presence in the region other than the Arab presence..."
Herzog ended his statement, while holding a document of the resolution, with these words:
"For us, the Jewish people, this resolution based on hatred, falsehood and arrogance, is devoid of any moral or legal value. For us, the Jewish people, this is no more than a piece of paper and we shall treat it as such."
As he concluded his speech, Herzog tore the document in half.

Israel made revocation of resolution 3379 a condition of its participation in the Madrid Peace Conference of 1991.[1] Resolution 3379 was revoked in 1991 by UN General Assembly Resolution 4686.
In Campbell, California, in the United States, a group of high school students attempted to solicit signatures on the premises of a local shopping center for a petition against Resolution 3379. The result was the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in Pruneyard Shopping Center v. Robins (1980).

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 46/86
United Nations General Assembly Resolution 46/86 passed on December 16, 1991, revoked Resolution 3379 with a vote of 111 to 25, with 13 abstentions.
Israel made revocation of resolution 3379 a condition of its participation in the Madrid Peace Conference, in progress in the last quarter of 1991. Under pressure from the administration of President George H.W. Bush in the United States, the UN passed the resolution. The text of the revocation was simply:
"The general assembly decides to revoke the determination contained in its resolution 3379 (XXX) of 10 November 1975."
This formed resolution 46/86, which is one of the shortest in UN history. During this session, President Bush told the General Assembly:
"...to equate Zionism with the intolerable sin of racism is to twist history and forget the terrible plight of Jews in World War II and indeed throughout history."
The motion was co-sponsored by 90 nations and supported by 111 including 72 of the 76 nations ranked as "free" by the US-government funded Freedom House. Of the 4 free nations who did not vote in favour: Vanuatu was absent, Mauritius and Trinidad and Tobago abstained, only Bangladesh opposed.[1]

George H. W. Bush personally introduced the motion to revoke 3379 with these words:
And now, for the first time, we have a real chance to fulfill the U.N. Charter's ambition of working "to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and nations large and small to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom. Those are the words from the charter. We will not revive these ideals if we fail to acknowledge the challenge that the renewal of history presents.
....No one here can promise that today's borders will remain fixed for all time. But we must strive to ensure the peaceful, negotiated settlement of border disputes. We also must promote the cause of international harmony by addressing old feuds. We should take seriously the charter's pledge "to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbors."
UNGA Resolution 3379, the so-called "Zionism is racism" resolution, mocks this pledge and the principles upon which the United Nations was founded. And I call now for its repeal. Zionism is not a policy; it is the idea that led to the creation of a home for the Jewish people, to the State of Israel. And to equate Zionism with the intolerable sin of racism is to twist history and forget the terrible plight of Jews in World War II and, indeed, throughout history. To equate Zionism with racism is to reject Israel itself, a member of good standing of the United Nations.
This body cannot claim to seek peace and at the same time challenge Israel's right to exist. By repealing this resolution unconditionally, the United Nations will enhance its credibility and serve the cause of peace.

Madrid Conference of 1991
The Madrid Conference was hosted by the government of Spain and co-sponsored by the USA and the USSR. It convened on October 30, 1991 and lasted for three days. It was an early attempt by the international community to start a peace process through negotiations involving Israel and the Palestinians as well as Arab countries including Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. In the aftermath of the 1991 Gulf War, US President George H.W. Bush and his Secretary of State James Baker formulated the framework of objectives, and together with the Soviet Union extended a letter of invitation, dated October 30, 1991 to Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and the Palestinians.
The conference
The Palestinian team, because of Israeli objections, was initially formally a part of a joint Palestinian-Jordanian delegation and consisted of Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza without open PLO associations like Saeb Erekat and Haidar Abdel-Shafi, the head of the delegation. However, the delegation was in constant communication with the PLO leadership in Tunis. Over Israeli objections, the PLO dispatched an unofficial "advisory delegation," headed by Faisal Husseini to act as a liaison.[1]
The purpose of the conference was to serve as an opening forum for the participants and had no power to impose solutions or veto agreements. It inaugurated negotiations on both bilateral and multilateral tracks that also involved the international community. The Syrian and Lebanese negotiators agreed on a common strategy.
The first-ever public bilateral talks between Israel and its neighbors (except Egypt) were aimed at achieving peace treaties between the 3 Arab states and Israel, while the talks with the Palestinians were based on a 2-stage formula, the first consisting of negotiating interim self-government arrangements, to be followed by permanent status negotiations. (This formula was essentially followed in the later Oslo Accords.) They opened immediately following the conference on November 3, 1991 in Madrid, and were followed by over a dozen formal rounds in Washington, DC from December 9, 1991 to January 24, 1994[2][3]
The multilateral negotiations, which opened in Moscow on January 28, 1992, were held in 5 separate forums each focused on a major issue - water, environment, arms control, refugees and economic development, and were later held, until November 1993 throughout the world including European capitals and the Middle East. At first, Israel refused to take part in the refugee and economic meetings as Palestinians from outside the West Bank and Gaza were present. Syria and Lebanon refused to take part in multilateral meetings as long as there was no concrete progress on the bilateral level.
Formal talks in the multilateral track, which had been frozen for several years, resumed on January 31, 2000 with a meeting of the Steering Committee in Moscow, to be followed by meetings of the working groups.[4]
The Israeli-Jordan negotiations eventually led to a peace treaty signed in 1994, while the Israeli-Syrian ones led to several series of negotiations, which came quite close on some reports, but did not result in a peace treaty.
The bilateral Israeli-Palestinian negotiations were upstaged and eventually replaced by initially secret and illegal (according to Israeli law at the time) negotiations that finally led to the exchange of letters of 9 and 10 September 1993 and the subsequent 13 September 1993 signing on the lawn of the White House of the Declaration of Principles, which however were essentially based on terms which the Madrid round Palestinian negotiators had earlier rejected.
The Impact of the Madrid Peace Conference
Israel cites as a major benefit of the conference and the process, the greatly increased number of countries which recognize and have some degree of diplomatic relations with it - nearly doubling - in particular citing the major powers of China and India and some even in the Arab world, like Oman, Qatar, Tunisia, Morocco and Mauritania, along with the decline of the Arab boycott and economic relations with some of the Arab countries.[5]
In The Palestine-Israel Conflict: A Basic Introduction, Gregory Harms and Todd Ferry argue that ‘the symbolic significance of the Madrid conference far outweighed its accomplishments, which were thin indeed.’ [6] Nevertheless, an example had been made and a future model had been laid down. Moreover, the Madrid conference represents the first time all these countries had been gathered “face-to-faceâ€. [6] Indeed, ‘from Rhodes in 1949 to Madrid in 1991’[7] attempts to bring about peace in the region had failed. However, although the conference led to few practical and legal solutions, the Madrid peace conference of 1991 still signifies a remarkable “twist in eventsâ€[8] as the Palestine question was at long last dealt with. Yet because the Madrid Conference was based on the idea of ‘abandoning the dynamics of confrontation’[9], but more importantly because what ensued, through the Oslo Accords were isolated arrangements on disorganised technicalities such as crossings, borders, security, prisoners and so on, numerous of people are nowadays still ‘opposed to that ground- breaking leap’[9] which the Madrid Peace Conference of 1991 represents to many. On the other hand, in 2002 the German foreign minister Joschka Fischer, while voicing his opinion on a proposed future action of Israeli withdrawal from recently occupied towns followed by a declaration of a Palestinian state, argued:
"The idea is not to go backwards but to return to the basic formula that was established in Madrid: the exchange of land for peace,"[10]
At the end of the Madrid conference all participating countries appeared hopeful that the conference had resulted in a future road-map for reconciliation. The closing remarks presented below illustrate this hopeful sentiment:

American Secretary of State, James Baker seemed to have accomplished what he had initially wished for: peace negotiations which would lead to closer cooperation and reconciliation between the countries of the Middle East. However, Middle East scholar Louise Fawcett argues that by 1993 when Clinton came to office ‘the initial momentum of Madrid had flagged, and the subsequent bilateral talks in Washington between Israel and its neighbours had got bogged down.'[13] Thus, the Madrid conference was not to be the conference which would create peace in the Middle East, albeit the first step towards greater understanding and better communication among Middle Eastern countries.

Levenslang geëist tegen SS'er BoereRotterdam, 2 maart. In het proces tegen de Nederlandse SS’er Heinrich Boere heeft de officier van justitie dinsdagochtend een levenslange gevangenisstraf geëist. Boere (88) staat in Aken terecht voor drie moorden die hij pleegde in 1944. Hij was toen lid van een SS-commando dat meer dan vijftig onschuldige Nederlandse burgers vermoordde als represaille voor aanslagen van het verzet.
Boere heeft in december bekend dat hij heeft deelgenomen aan de liquidatie van Frits Bicknese, Teun de Groot en Frans Kusters. Volgens zijn advocaat had hij geen andere keus dan de orders op te volgen die hij kreeg. Als hij dat niet had gedaan, had zijn eigen leven gevaar gelopen, aldus de verdediging. Officier van justitie Ulrich Maass is er niet van overtuigd dat er sprake was van zo’n Befehlsnotstand. Daarom eiste hij vanochtend de maximale straf voor Boere.
Boere werd in Nederland in 1949 bij verstek ter dood veroordeeld voor zijn aandeel aan de zogenoemde Silbertanne-moorden. Hij ontsnapte naar Duitsland en wist uitlevering aan Nederland te voorkomen, omdat hij ook het Duitse staatsburgerschap bezit. De afgelopen weken heeft zijn verdediging de nodige tegenslagen moeten incasseren. Zo moest Boere toegeven dat hij lid was geweest van de NSB, terwijl hij dat lidmaatschap eerder had ontkend. Daarnaast werd door de advocaten van Boeres slachtoffers, de Nebenkläger, bewijs aangedragen voor Boeres deelname aan het verraad van onderduikhelpers in het Limburgse dorp Helden-Panningen. Zeven van hen overleefden het concentratiekamp niet.
